Queer Prom is an annual Oasis tradition and the biggest of its kind in the state. We have broken our attendance record each year since we first put on the event years ago. Now, with over 475 LGBTQ youth and allies attending last year's Queer Prom at Pacific Lutheran University, it is Oasis's single largest event of the year and requires months of preparation!
Every year, organizations such as Pierce County AIDS Foundation, the Rainbow Center, Pacific Lutheran University, and PFLAG help support the event financially to keep the event accessible to attendees, while the Oasis Youth Council works in collaboration with the Oasis staff to plan the event.
Queer Prom is open to LGBTQ-identified and allied youth between the ages of 14 and 24 and has traditionally taken place in the month of May. The event has a suggested donation of $2 and in the past, Oasis has sponsored a pizza party for the GSA with the most attendees from their school.
Please get in touch with Oasis staff if you are a youth or community member who is interested in helping us put on our next event. We are always in need of volunteers, donors, and planners!
